First one out the gate: a braided infinity scarf. I was trying to learn a cable stitch and it just wasn't happening so I decided I would make a cable by braiding together strands instead. This is a test for a bigger scarf for later so it is a little short to be doubled and thinner than your typical infinity scarf, so I'll be giving this to some little girls I know will enjoy it. I'm using some left over yarn from other projects, the white is a Waverly Yarn, and the marble yarn is from Red Heart. Pattern below, I'll post "The Big One" when its finished.
Braided Infinity Scarf
Skill Level: Beginner
Materials: 2 colors of yarn (any type), 9.00MM crochet hook
Braid Strands: make 7 (I did 4 in white and 3 in the marble)
Row 1: ch. 151 - turn
Row 2: working in second chain from hook sc in each chain 150. tie off
Connecting Strands:
To connect the individual strands lay flat with back side facing up on all strands then string together with a single row of sc. I turned and added a second row of sc so i could work with it to connect the ends.
The Braid:
I actually used this VIDEO to learn the 7 strand braid. Really easy to follow.
Just laid everything on a flat surface and braided.
Finishing:
At the end of the braid I connected the ends together with another row of sc. then attached the ends of the scarf together with another row of sc. Tied off and tucked in all the ends.
This is absolutely beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteHow much yarn (in yards) was used?
ReplyDeleteSorry, I'm not sure how much yarn I used on this. I was using some left over yarn from other projects. It wasn't a lot cause it came out pretty short.
